MINISTER'S  NOTES

November 16, 2014

Dear Companions and Guests,

Today we are enjoying a joyous, celebratory time together. We welcome new Candidates into fuller membership in the Secular Franciscan Family, and we welcome guests who have come, perhaps out of curiosity and perhaps out of a desire for a closer relationship to Christ through the charism of Francis and Clare.

By the time we meet again on December 14th, it will be a new liturgical year and we will be deep into the season of Advent. The purpose of this note is to invite everyone to be part of our Advent Reflection at our next meeting.

My school has a program for recognizing students and staff for being “Bucket Fillers”.  The premise is that we all carry an invisible bucket and anyone can fill someone’s bucket by hard work, academic accomplishment, or simply a kind word or deed. I have had many bucket fillers in my life. When my personal bucket is full, I am best able to be a bucket filler to others. Who has been a bucket filler in your life? What life experiences have filled your invisible bucket?

For the next meeting, please bring an object that represents a person or event, someone or something, that has enlivened you and filled you with a feeling of happiness and well-being. We will then take turns showing and sharing the story behind this object. Each story will be an Advent offering to each other and part of our Advent Reflection. (Don’t worry; you’ll bring your favored object home with you again.).

I look forward to our time together celebrating Advent.

 Peace and all good,

Claire
